  1. Low end phone at a mid-tier price

Reviewed by Jeff R on 2/8/10

Like others I purchased this phone because we need a decent quality IAX desk phone. However our experience was poor. There were numerous firmware upgrades required to fix a number issues, some were bizzare like changing the time on the phone locked out the integrated web server. In practice the phone would loose registration frequently.

In comparison to a similarly priced Polycom phone .. there is no comparison. So in my opinion you are better resolving SIP NAT issues and sticking with a quality product like Polycom, rather that going for the apparent convenience of a low quality product such as this.

  2. Great Usability SIP + IAX - Poor Looks

    Reviewed by Alex on 9/26/09

Bought Last week. If you are planning to Use both SIP and IAX Account on same phone ,this is the cheapest phone available. Phone delivers much more what mentions in Manual - obviously need a hack though.

Only disappointing thing is the look of the phone, but overall a great performer.

I have tried every IP phone under the sun, some are good…may are piles of junk. This phone is high quality, easy to configure and has a great SIP feature set. I am about to order a bunch more for my office. NICE PHONE!!!

  4. Work great for IAX2, but limited documentation

Reviewed by James Nachbar on 7/22/09

I’ve been running an Elastix/Asterisk system with Polycom phones for about three years. I have used zioper as a software IAX phone, but have wanted a hardware IAX phone for external access, because of IAX’s superior NAT traversal. The Citel 4110 looked like just the ticket.

I ordered it, and got it working quickly. However, the manual is disappointing. It was obviously written by someone whose English is poor, and more importantly, is very incomplete. If you are used to the detailed Polycom documentation, the difference is startling. No manual is included in the box, but a slip of paper refers you to http://www.citel.com/Products/ip-phones.asp , so you can read it for yourself.

Although promoted as a two line phone, only one IAX line can be configured. Basic configuration was a breeze, but be prepared for a lot of hacking if you want anything more than that, such as multiple lines, custom ring tones, or programming the memory buttons. I would have rated Value and Usability higher if the documentation had been better. However, if all you need is one IAX2 line to make outgoing calls and receive incoming calls through a NAT firewall, you will love this phone!
