Worthless, won't work with APs
It has a lot of potential, but that is about as far as it goes.
It advertises "open standards designs that make it easy to integrate with your organization’s Wi-Fi infrastructure" and "broad telephony and WLAN interoperability".
But tech support refuses to acknowlege a problem, and offers at most a buy back option through customer support, or help me purchase a certified product. Their response is they "cannot speak to the choice of words in product documentation".
At best it is false advertisement.
Won't work with your Access Points
I'm sure this is a great phone, but the sales information should include the fact that IT WON'T WORK WITH YOUR CONSUMER-GRADE ACCESS POINTS. The voipsupply website claims compatibility with WPA2, etc. The point of standards is that different devices from different manufacturers work together.
However, this phone simply will not work with standard access points. As in, the phone completely refuses to connect to them. Although the phone's 'site survey' can easily see the access point, the startup screen reports "WiFi: No APs Found". After you get the phone and see that error message and google it, you will find the pages on the Polycom website that explain the problem.
Don't waste your time and money on this phone until you have gone to http://support.polycom.com/global/documents/support/user/products/voice/VIEW_Certified_Products_Guide.pdf, and purchased and configured one of the access points on that page (which will cost $250 - $300).
Also, you do not need the power supply to use the phone - it has a standard micro USB connector that will charge the phone over USB (cable not included), but the battery is separate from the phone, and you will need a battery.
The low rating is due to the incorrect sales info that the phone works with standard WiFi protocols. It does not, and only works with specified Access Points.
