About
Hello, I’m Tom Uhteg, and I am a Sales Account Manager here at VoIP Supply. I have been with VoIP Supply since February 2010, and I have learned a wealth of knowledge since that time.
I have always been interested in technology, and have now found the area that I specifically like to focus on in VoIP. I enjoy sitting down with customers and discussing what solutions I can offer them for their needs. Some solutions are more challenging than others and all are different but, that makes it fun.
Experience
After spending 4 years in the US Navy I wanted to find a new and interesting field to work in. In the Navy I worked on fighter aircraft which required attention to detail, and was very technical. This is why I feel sales suits me well.
On the phone with customers it can get very technical, and in every aspect of my job I must pay attention to detail. When I am not on the phone with customers I still stay plenty busy with other tasks. I go through many trainings with other members of our staff on all of the latest most cutting edge solutions.
On the topics that I am already well versed in, I spend time writing blog posts for our VoIP Insiders page. It’s very rewarding to be able to take the knowledge I have learned, and share it with others. Every day I get lots of questions on all different kinds of solutions. I feel this is what has helped train me the most, because it makes me go out there and find the answers when I don’t know them.
If there are any specific questions you have feel free to contact me directly.
In-house Trainings
I have taken many in-house trainings on different manufacturers, and solutions. With our head engineer I have been trained on:
- Setting Up Full Solutions
- Equipment Functionality
- Manufacturers Overview (Polycom, Digium, Sangoma, Aastra, Snom, etc.)
In addition to the above, I have participated in the in-office manufacturer led trainings. These include:
- Xorcom
- Digium
- Polycom
- 3CX
- Sangoma
- Konftel
- Jabra
- And many more...
Interests
Although the bulk of my week is spent focusing on VoIP, there are many other things I like to do. I love to run, play hockey, read, and travel. I am also a musician, and of course love spending time with family and friends.
Customer Reviews
Digium & Polycom
We recently purchased a Digium Switchvox System from Tom with Polycom IP560 phones. I had quite a few questions and bounced questions back and forth with him. He was very knowledgeable and helpful and we love our new system.

Great IP Phone knowledge
I talked with Tom today about IP conference room phone options. He had excellent insight in what would work for us and was very good at detailing all the options out there. I also read his post on Polycom conference room options and found it very helpful.
