Questions on Cisco SPA303G

From Mike Kehoe at 3/12/2014 8:00 PM

Q: I am a solo attorney. I have a support person who answers the phone for me. Does this phone have an intercom type feature that allows her to "buzz" me and let me know who's calling? If not, which phone(s) has that feature? Thanks.

A: It is achievable on Cisco SPA303G but Feature requires support by call server.

Q: Can I configure this phone from the menu WITHOUT having to connect to network/server/PBX first? Competing product required access to config file on server, but if it can't see the network (out of date firmware/rom/bios) ...

A: I am not showing anywhere in the phone to configure it. It has to be done from the web. In turn you will need to have an IP address to set the phone up

Invest in a great VoIP provider
I'm in love with this device. I've had it for about 6 months so far and it simply works perfectly. I purchased this for both my home and office. It is much better and a lot more functional than the one we had at my old job. The call quality is astonishing, everything works excellently. I use it over FIOS and have no problems whatsoever. Just plug it in and go. I love Cisco for their user-friendly Plug & Play features.

The downside is that the phone is only as good as your provider. I was using a voip provider called Ring Central and I got tons of problems with service cutting out. I switched to FastPBX and it works awesome. Ring Central's service was horrible and they were way too expensive. FastPBX, on the other hand, not only offers great service but also has a much better user interface and way more features.

Great mid-level phone
I've deployed quite a few different phones and quite a few of these as well. They don't sound quite like a Polycom, but they still sound very good and don't cost anywhere near what a Polycom does. They're easy to provision, and easy to use. My customers love them.

Good Phone
This is a basic model. However, it has all the features I need. The sound quality is the same as a landline.I am happy with it.

Speaker Phone Problems
Phone works well with one exception. The speakerphone is not full duplex unlike what Cisco advertises. This poorly implemented feature makes this phone unusable as a hands free device. I would not recommend this phone and suggest for with the 504G model which works very well.
