Megapixel IP Cameras <\/a>are the wave of the future.\u00a0 With ever increasing standards of available bandwidth and H.264 resolution, megapixel resolution is not as much of a drain on resources as it once was.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, many standalone NVR’s do not support high resolution recording. \u00a0Be sure to check if the NVR supports it or not so that you don’t limit yourself to standard resolution (if you already have MP cameras) or, consider future-proofing your\u00a0surveillance system with an NVR that supports megapixel recording.<\/p>\n

RMA Request vs. DOM Chip<\/h2>\n

Sending back any\u00a0faulty hardware\u00a0through a\u00a0manufacturers\u00a0RMA\u00a0can be costly, time consuming, and frustrating.<\/p>\n

There is\u00a0one type of design that can significantly reduce the cost of an\u00a0RMA and you may want to check and see if it’s offered by the NVR of interest: Preloading the video management program in the DOM (disk on module) chip.<\/p>\n

Instead of shipping the whole machine back,\u00a0all that you’d have to do if something goes wrong is\u00a0replace the small DOM chip which offers the most convenient and efficient solution.<\/p>\n
