{"id":50573,"date":"2012-07-16T18:20:02","date_gmt":"2012-07-16T22:20:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.voipsupply.com\/blog\/?p=50573"},"modified":"2016-06-20T20:23:23","modified_gmt":"2016-06-20T20:23:23","slug":"microsoft-wpc-roadtrip-home-before-the-postcards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.voipsupply.com\/blog\/voip-insider\/microsoft-wpc-roadtrip-home-before-the-postcards\/","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft WPC Roadtrip \u2013 Home Before the Postcards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I used to send postcards to people when I\u2019d go on trips with pictures of monuments, sculptures and landmarks from whatever city I was in.<\/p>\n<p>But my trips were usually short and I\u2019d be home, unpacked and subjecting everyone to my photo slideshow before the postcards even made it to the mailbox.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, things have changed with the ease of social media and blogs; you can post a photo and before you have taken 25 steps away from it, someone has commented.<\/p>\n<p>As the trips get more hectic and meetings start to pile up, not everything goes up on the internet and there are still things to show and write about when I get home.<\/p>\n<p>Here are my last few observations from the <a title=\"2012 Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/media\/set\/?set=a.10151097823504903.499532.87810209902&amp;type=3\">2012 Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Sangoma (Booth #256)<\/h3>\n<p>On display in the Sangoma booth was the <a title=\"Sangoma Lync Express\" href=\"\/manufacturer\/sangoma\">Sangoma Lync Express<\/a>, the all in one Lync appliance.<\/p>\n<p>The Lync Express is pre-installed with all of the software for a Lync deployment and doubles as a Lync Gateway with PRI and FXS connectivity.<\/p>\n<p>It is targeted towards the SMB user and branch offices. During my time in the Sangoma booth the overall reaction towards the Lync express was, \u201cWe\u2019ve been looking for something like this\u201d from installs up through employees at Microsoft.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-50603\" style=\"border: 2px solid orange; margin: 10px;\" title=\"LifeSize Booth @ 2012 Microsoft WPC\" src=\"\/blog\/voip-insider\/files\/2012\/07\/LifeSize-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"LifeSize\" width=\"125\" height=\"125\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>LifeSize (Booth #1629) and Logitech (Booth #1626)<\/h3>\n<p>LifeSize was displaying their range of video conferencing solutions for connecting the desktop to the conference room with live feeds between their cameras and their offices.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-align: left;\">Across the aisle, Logitech had their <\/span><a style=\"text-align: left;\" title=\"Logitech BCC950\" href=\"\/logitech-bcc950\">Logitech BCC950<\/a><span style=\"text-align: left;\"> on display.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I\u2019ve had a chance to use the BCC950 a little before and for personal desktop and small office video conferencing there really isn\u2019t a more<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-50613 alignright\" style=\"border: 2px solid orange; text-align: left; color: #0000ee; margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px;\" title=\"Logitech BCC950 Hi Def Webcam\" src=\"\/blog\/voip-insider\/files\/2012\/07\/Logitech-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Logitech\" width=\"125\" height=\"125\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">feature rich product for the price.<\/p>\n<h3>Patton (Booth #131)<\/h3>\n<p>A booth getting a lot of buzz at the Microsoft WPC was <a title=\"Patton\" href=\"\/manufacturer\/patton\">Patton<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Patton carries a line of FXS\/FXO, BRI and T1\/E1\/PRI gateways that have been certified for\u00a0Lync.<\/p>\n<p>What was creating the most buzz was their gateways that allow non-compliant devices to be used with Lync. This allows existing equipment such as SIP phones and paging systems to be used with a new Lync deployment.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-50623 alignright\" style=\"border: 2px solid orange; margin: 10px;\" title=\"Patton Booth Highlights Lync @ 2012 Microsoft WPC\" src=\"\/blog\/voip-insider\/files\/2012\/07\/Patton-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Patton\" width=\"125\" height=\"125\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Final Thoughts<\/h3>\n<p>Having never been to Microsoft WPC before it really was a good trip and nice to meet with so many different people from end users, to\u00a0integrators,\u00a0to manufacturers.<\/p>\n<p>But for all the sales pitches and product endorsements I heard over the four days, the most memorable line from a manufacture was, \u201cDo I look like a lady who doesn\u2019t carry a flask of vodka?\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I used to send postcards to people when I\u2019d go on trips with pictures of monuments, sculptures and landmarks from whatever city I was in.
