Sure it was cool but it seemed a little unnecessary and, dare I say it excessive, to have a touchscreen on a desk phone. But in the years since my opinion has shifted and now I want a touchscreen VoIP phone on my desk.<\/p>\n<p>I think maybe this &#8216;want&#8217; is just an extension of the fact that a lot of the things I own and use touchscreen. My cell phone is touchscreen. My laptop\/tablet is touchscreen. While my displays for my desktop computers at work and home aren\u2019t I\u2019ve found myself touching the screen only to be disappointed when nothing happens, so: In the future my desktop computer will be touchscreen.<\/p>\n<p>So what are my options for touchscreen VoIP Phones?<\/p>\n<p>As I see it there are three different options when it comes to touchscreen phones:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Small Display \u2013 These phones have kept the form factor of a traditional business VoIP phone but the display is touch. Some examples of this include the <a title=\"Grandstream GXV3140\" href=\"\/grandstream-gxv3140\">Grandstream GXV3140<\/a>, <a title=\"Polycom VVX 500\" href=\"\/polycom-vvx-500-voip-phone\">Polycom VVX 500<\/a> and <a title=\"snom 870\" href=\"\/snom-870-black\">snom 870<\/a>.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-74993\" src=\"\/blog\/voip-insider\/files\/2013\/08\/GXV3140-VVX-500-870-1024x341.jpg\" alt=\"GXV3140 VVX 500 870\" width=\"770\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voipsupply.com\/blog\/voip-insider\/files\/2013\/08\/GXV3140-VVX-500-870-1024x341.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.voipsupply.com\/blog\/voip-insider\/files\/2013\/08\/GXV3140-VVX-500-870-300x100.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.voipsupply.com\/blog\/voip-insider\/files\/2013\/08\/GXV3140-VVX-500-870.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 770px) 100vw, 770px\" \/><\/li>\n<li>The Horizontal Display \u2013 Stripped of almost all of the traditional telephony keys this phones usual boast large displays and a touchscreen only interface. Some examples of this include the <a title=\"RCA IP150\" href=\"\/rca-ip150\">RCA IP150<\/a> and <a title=\"Yealink VP530\" href=\"\/yealink-vp530\">Yealink VP530<\/a>.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-75033\" src=\"\/blog\/voip-insider\/files\/2013\/08\/IP150-VP530-1024x341.jpg\" alt=\"IP150 VP530\" width=\"770\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voipsupply.com\/blog\/voip-insider\/files\/2013\/08\/IP150-VP530-1024x341.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.voipsupply.com\/blog\/voip-insider\/files\/2013\/08\/IP150-VP530-300x100.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.voipsupply.com\/blog\/voip-insider\/files\/2013\/08\/IP150-VP530.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 770px) 100vw, 770px\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While I have had a chance to use all of these VoIP phones during my time at VoIP Supply and they all are pretty good phones, I am talking about <strong>MY<\/strong> touchscreen VoIP phone.<\/p>\n<p>Now that we\u2019ve gotten my petulant child-esque outburst out of the way, what do I want to see in this VoIP phone?<\/p>\n<p>Personally I would like to see one that keeps the form factor of a standard desktop VoIP phone such as snom 870 but extend the touchscreen to cover the whole side of the phone.
