ACTi at VoIP Supply

This year ACTi has done something very bold and very brave. Beginning in Q1 of 2013, this top network camera company started rolling out several new cameras. It’s not just a few new models; it’s entire new lines.

Currently in the process of fading out their popular TCM series, ACM series and KCM series cameras, ACTi has released 2 new lines so far with 2 more to come later in the year.

ACTi did an excellent job by identifying exactly what a problem was with crossing over to IP cameras. The plain truth is, IP cameras are expensive. They’re really expensive when compared to some analog cameras. Understanding this, ACTi released the D series IP cameras.

The D series is directly aimed towards analog users.

Summer break is almost here! Now is the perfect time to bring your school’s security system up to date while the students are away.

From now until the end of September, select Panasonic IP Video Surveillance Cameras are on sale at VoIP Supply. Panasonic i-Pro Cameras deliver top performance, functionality, and reliability that you can count on when you need it most.

Cover the parking lots, sports fields and parameters of the school with the weatherproof WV-SW395 or WV-SW396 with 720p HD resolution, facial recognition, and Panasonic’s Adaptive Black Stretch technology so it adjusts the image to fluctuating light.

AXIS M1004-WAXIS recently announced that they are currently in the works for releasing a new affordable wireless camera, and it’s looking better than anything before!

As a leader in the IP surveillance industry, AXIS is known for their top line cameras, which unfortunately also tend to correlate with high prices. In efforts to reach out and provide for small retail, offices, and home users, AXIS is set to release the AXIS M1004-W, a small and cost effective IP camera, complete with 720p HD resolution!

This new addition to the AXIS M10 Series is going to be an excellent step up allowing budget conscious buyers to reap the benefits of:

  • 1280×800 pixel resolution/progressive scan/HDTV color fidelity
  • 16:9 widescreen and AXIS Corridor Format
  • Input/output ports
  • Support for Wi-Fi

The funny thing about model numbers is they sort of make sense, but not always. Fortunately, VoIP Supply is here to help with our dedication to help make the buying process easier! Today we discuss the naming convention of a particular favorite brand of mine, Vivotek:

Prefixes:

  • IP (ex: IP8331) — Network. Think of it as IP, like Internet Protocol, even though all of Vivotek’s cameras are network cameras (and most are PoE, though not all), this naming convention tends to be the default for most box, cube, and bullet cameras.

  • MD (ex: MD8562) — Mobile Dome; weatherproof and compliant with EN50155 standards, these IP cameras are specifically made to go places be it cars, buses, or trains (so does

Good things come to those who wait, and our patience has finally paid off! MOBOTIX just announced their new app for iPhones, iPods, iPads and iPad Minis and it looks, for lack of a better term, totally awesome.

The MOBOTIX app, simply titled “MOBOTIX”, is compatible with the T24 IP Video Door Station and most MOBOTIX IP cameras. The beauty of this German company is they make an outstanding product: MOBOTIX cameras have no moving parts so there is no mechanical wear and tear, they’re at least IP65 rated for outdoor or indoor use, and can operate in extreme conditions from literally Zugspitze peak to the controlled atmosphere of the Vatican vaults. And this app was specifically created to use the Megapixel lenses,

What Does it Do?

The TRENDnet TV-IP262P Megapixel internet camera is an ideal IP surveillance option for office buildings, schools and retail shops looking for that extra security measure. Streaming a smooth 1280 x 1024 resolution at up to

CCTV started out as a strictly wired system.  The cameras were connected to a monitor station by expensive coaxial cable. However that system was solid. Even today coaxial cable is still being laid because, the truth is, it’s reliable at 1-10 Gbps.  Reliable, but outdated.  It was made for the technology at the time, and with that comes it limitations such as QoS, installation costs, scalability issues, and the list goes on.

Coaxial Cable

As the technology improved and networks began to carry more data, people moved on to Twisted Pair Cable.  Not that twisted pair was a new concept, it was invented by Alexander Graham Bell, but the application fits today’s needs. Today there are different categories, primarily Cat(egory)3 through Cat7.  Cat3 (10BASE-T) technically

Grandstream GXV3672_HD

Recently, Grandstream released several new cameras that have made a great impression here at VoIP Supply and on the web.  Our VoIP Supply Lab was lucky enough to get one of them, the new Grandstream GXV3672_HD, and we immediately jumped on the network to check it out!

The physical appearance of the new IP camera was a pleasant surprise.  This IP66-rated weatherproof outdoor IP camera has a solid metal casing with a matte black finish.  Included with the GXV3672_HD is a sun shield to prevent glare on the lens and a back-mounted camera mount comes preattached.  The wiring is already strung through the camera mount base, so the Power-over-Ethernet IP camera is ready to go as soon as you are.  If you are not

This week, VoIP Supply, an Advanced Mobotix Partner–the highest level partnership available–attended the MOBOTIX NPC in Fort Lauderdale, FL for 2 days of sun (we’re in Buffalo, so Florida was very much appreciated), food, and a whole lot of MOBOTIX goodness!

About 150 business professionals from around the States, Canada and Mexico gathered to meet and greet the MOBOTIX leadership team including the General Manager of the Americas – Steve Gorski, Director of Training -Jens Wirok, and the Chief Executive Officer USA -Dr. Mangus Ekerot.

The hot topic at hand was the newly released MOBOTIX S14 Flexmount, a sleek and stylish IP camera unlike anything else available to the public.  The S14 can connect 1 or 2 MOBOTIX hemispheric lens units with an

I learned the word ‘tanstaafl’ during my macro-economics class in college.  While it’s used as a word, it’s actually an acronym.  If you don’t recognize it, prepare yourself: There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free Lunch.

Box chain stores carry surveillance cameras that are a couple bucks.  Here at VoIP Supply you’ll see them run into the several thousands.  Truth is there is a whole lot of quality difference.  Don’t worry, this article shouldn’t be preachy
too preachy.

Simple:  If you want to keep an eye on the house while you’re away or just need to monitor the front door of the office, a good IP camera would be right for you, such as Grandstream’s indoor GXV3615WP_HD or their new outdoor model GXV3672_HD.
