VoIP Insider Named a Top 10 Telecommunications Blog

When I first started blogging about VoIP “way back” in 2005 I penned one of the most popular “blog lists” of that year.

The Smith On VoIP top 30 VoIP blogs was a celebration of the thought leaders who were shaping my own thoughts and ideas about the VoIP industry at large. Fast forward over four years and people are still cranking out blog lists like they’re going out of style.

In fact in the last six to eight weeks, I’ve seen a number of top VoIP blog lists spring-up which look to rank the most popular and influential voices in the industry. As a former list compiler myself I know the difficulties in selecting the best blogs, because ranking the”best” is so subjective.

Hence why we really try to not toot our own horn when it comes to making these types of lists. Sure the recognition is great, but what are most of these lists really based on other than opinion or perception?

That being said…

Earlier today I received an email from TMC President Dave Rodriguez about the VoIP Insider making a Cision Media’s list of top 10 Telecommunications blogs. What’s unique about this list is that it is based off some hard data – the number of unique visitors to a site in a given month.

Sure the VoIP Insider was ranked 9th, but take into consideration that the other blogs on the list are from pure media companies. Highlighting the fact that the VoIP Insider is truly a leader when it comes to quality educational information and news about VoIP.
