Grandstream today announced the release of the GXV3006. The Grandstream GXV3006 is identical in appearance and functionality to the popular GXV3000, but adds a built-in FXS port, allowing the user to connect a traditional analog phone, cordless analog phone, fax machine or other analog telephone device to the IP Videophone.
The GXV3006 includes an FXS port which enables users to connect their analog phone directly to the device to make/receive VoIP calls. A cordless analog phone can be connected to this device for optimal flexibility.

Looks like a solid phone at a decent price.
I wonder how much longer we're going to see these "transitional" VoIP phones with backwards compatibility to analog devices. In a way it makes me think the creators of VoIP phones and ATAs are inadvertently helping prolong the analog legacy.

You'll see it as long as VoIP calls are not 100% reliable. There are a lot of folks who still need "mission critical" voice for which the PSTN is a very very reliable solution.
Wondering why they based this on GXV3000 instead of GXV3140...

They likely had a large customer request for it...or a lot of raw materials to use up ;)
