vs_office1Amherst, NY – VoIP Supply’s office was featured by Buffalo Business First as a cool office in the Western New York area, highlighting its full-sized kitchen, the entertaining lounge area as well as the two gym areas with a shower!

Walking through VoIP Supply’s front door, a bowl of candies puts some smiles on the employee’s faces. Every Monday, the company starts with an all-staff meeting on the “lawn”, a bright green carpet that looks and feels like grass. Aside from discussing the business goals and performance, the employee of the week is selected to play a Plinko game for prizes including beer, gift cards, and paid time off.

After the office remodeling about two years ago, VoIP Supply’s workplace was brightened up with vibrant colors and posters that encapsulate the company’s five core values. On the second floor of the warehouse space sits the staff lounge with two gym areas, couches, TV set with gaming console as well as a shower for employees to use after a workout. The office is also pet-friendly which means employees are allowed to bring their pets to work.vs_office2

A full-sized kitchen with a double-sized steel fridge makes sure the employees have enough space to store their lunches and snacks. A full stove, oven, microwave, and toaster are also available at all times.

VoIP Supply’s office sets an example of great work-life balance and makes their employees feel comfortable coming to work every day.

“We work hard, and we play hard,” said Mary Cheney, VoIP Supply’s marketing supervisor. “We’re a family company, and having everything you’d have at home reinforces that.”

Unless you have been living under a rock, I’m sure you have heard by now that Toshiba is exiting the VoIP business. If you or your business are currently Toshiba customers then you probably were about to fall into a deep despair, that is until Mitel swooped in and saved the day!

Mitel recently confirmed that they have signed a MoU with Toshiba to transfer certain assets and support obligations to Mitel. This Memorandum of Understanding means that Mitel will be honoring Toshiba contracts and warranties, along with honoring past Toshiba quotes and maintaining what is left of Toshiba’s inventory. Doing this will ensure a clear and easy path for customers who will be transitioning over to Mitel.

15-years-anniversary

Big news has come out of Digium headquarters in Huntsville Alabama last week as they have announced the upcoming release of their new IP phone, the Digium D80. This is Digium’s first all-touch phone that is sleek in design and packed with features.

d80The phone is basically a 7-inch, high definition touchscreen tablet. While this phone has the normal features like HD voice, headset, and speaker functions, we thought one of the phones most impressive abilities is that it can scroll up to 100 BLF keys. The phone can display 20 BLFs at a time, which is impressive in itself, but the fact that you can have up to 100 is something that we feel will separate this phone from the rest of the pack.

fulfilment-by-vsThis episode of The VoIP News Update also covers VoIP Fulfillment by VoIP Supply. This service offers the shortest turnaround times, ordering and integrations, Provisioning and professional services, just to name a few. VoIP Supply has you covered on the west coast and east coast with warehouses in Las Vegas and New York. capture January 24, 2017, Cisco announced that it agreed to buy AppDynamics Inc. for $3.7 billion dollars to expand its core networking business. This is Cisco’s largest deal in the past recent years since it bought the security company Sourcefire for $2.7 billion dollars in 2013.

AppDynamics is a leading software company that manages and analyzes applications. Cisco announced to buy AppDynamics just the day before AppDynamics was set to launch its long-planned IPO.

“The fact that they were in their IPO process represented a window where we needed to make a decision.” Cisco’s Salvagno said.

connect-20333_960_720

AppDynamics will become part of Cisco’s Internet of Things (IoT) unit and will be able to provide intelligence from the network through applications said Rowan Trollop, Cisco’s head of IoT and its applications business group.

This acquisition is expected to finish by Cisco’s third quarter of the fiscal year 2017 with a mix of cash and equity. Cisco has been trying to move into the cloud business to increase its competitiveness, I believe this acquisition might bolster their effort in the near future. We look forward to seeing how their future strategy will shift.

PaloSanto Solutions creator of Elastix shocked many when it was announced that 3CX has taken control of Elastix 5! The move is said to have happened so that the company could shift their focus to Cloud PBX and call center offerings. Elastix has over 100,000 installations worldwide and tens of thousands of monthly downloads. When additional announcements that Elastix 2.5 and Elastix 4 trainings would be shut down effective immediately the bright orange Elastix community seemed to be turning red as customers were shaken up. So what does this all mean? Elastix 5 will be powered by 3CX instead of Asterisk. Elastix 2.5 and Elastix 4 installations will still work and repositories will be available. Major Update To The Digium Switchvox Softphone App Digium has big news and gift to everyone just in time for the holidays.  Available for immediate download is the new Switchvox Softphone app, version 3.0. What makes this version such big news? It’s all about CallKit, a new feature in Apple iOS 10 that resolves the limitations in previous iOS versions that all softphone vendors experienced. Digium is among the first Unified Communications vendors to release a softphone based on Apple iOS 10 CallKit. And best of all, the app is free!

In previous versions of iOS, users experienced some limitations and challenges with iOS softphone applications. For example,a softphone was considered just another application. If a cell phone call came in, your softphone application was immediately placed into the background and your softphone calls were placed on hold. Of course this was not ideal, as your softphone caller would have no indication as to why they were suddenly on hold. Likewise, if your iOS device was locked or the softphone was in the background, notifications did not always come through.

Major Update To The Digium Switchvox Softphone App With iOS 10 and CallKit, this all changes. Now, the Digium Switchvox Softphone app interacts with iOS 10, just like a regular phone call. Now, all calls utilize the same interface, allowing you to choose what happens when multiple calls occur simultaneously.

Calls to and from the softphone app are no longer interrupted by cell phone calls. Also, any incoming Switchvox call can be quickly answered even when the app is closed and your iPhone is locked.

What’s more, Switchvox Softphone 3.0 uses less battery life than any version of the past. Push technology enables better communication between the server and the app, conserving your data and battery use.

This is a revolutionary update for the Digium Switchvox Softphone app and it takes softphone usage from a nice-to-try feature to a must-have feature. Interact with your Switchvox calls with greater flexibility, call control, and confidence with Switchvox Softphone 3.0.

Small and medium sized businesses can get all of their Digium Switchvox needs from VoIP Supply.  Download the latest version of Switchvox Softphone today from the Apple Store.
