Q & A: What is Single-Cell Vs. Multi-Cell?

With DECT technology becoming more and more popular these days, we often have a lot of questions come in, one of those being what is Single-Cell Vs. Multi-Cell?

During our most recent webinar with our partners at Snom/VTech, Simon Bradbrook was able to walk us through the difference and why it matters. Here’s what he had to say!

Single-Cell means that you have one single base station and the handsets are hanging off one base station. Where it becomes Multi-Cell is when you add another base station, you are creating a mesh network around that so the handsets will operate around that area. Multi-Cell gives you complete coverage for wide areas and it makes sure when you are building that mesh network, a handoff will then be completely seamless.

Here are a couple of options if you are looking for a DECT solution

Small to Medium-Size Business Solutions: Check out the Snom M5XX solution. This solution can support 1-6 base stations and it increases the size of the area you are able to get them to work within.

Enterprise Business Solutions: Consider the Snom M9XX solution. This model allows from 1-1000 base stations! The M9XX also has a ‘site survey mode’ built right into the handsets so you don’t need additional software or hardware on premise to know where to place your additional base stations! Game changer right there!

If you have additional questions about DECT technology or any of the solutions we have discussed in this Q&A post, leave a comment below. You can also check out our latest webinar with Snom for more details about both of these solutions!

Q&A: What noise-canceling technology is included in the Poly Voyager Free 60 UC Series?

May 23, 2023 by Tony Monteleone

The Poly Voyager Free 60 UC Series Earbuds are the latest addition to the Poly Voyager family of enterprise Bluetooth headsets.

The Poly Voyager Free 60 UC Series Earbuds feature a stem design with three microphones per earbud that triangulates on the user’s voice and minimizes surrounding noise so they are always heard loud and clear. Combined with hybrid and adaptive Active Noise Canceling (ANC), and advanced noise-blocking algorithms to further reduce background noise, the Voyager Free 60 UC Series ensures crystal clear audio on both sides of the call.

Poly has taken hybrid ANC to the next level with adaptive hybrid ANC offered on the Poly Voyager Free 60 UC Series. An inward-facing microphone monitors what the user hears, and an external microphone monitors the noise outside.

The adaptive hybrid ANC automatically adjusts to your wearing style and cancels out just the right amount of noise for a quiet and comfortable experience. And with two-setting transparency mode, you can tune back into your natural surroundings without taking out your buds.

Whether you’re on a video call or listening to your playlists, these wireless earbuds are designed to keep you productive, connected, and entertained.

The Poly Voyager Free 60 UC Series comes in two models, the Voyager Free 60+ UC, and the Voyager Free 60 UC, with each model available in either a UC or Microsoft Teams variant. The earbuds are identical and come equipped with the same Poly noise-canceling technology and noise-blocking innovations while offering the same great audio and user experience.

The only difference between the two models are the included charge cases. The Poly Voyager Free 60+ UC includes a touchscreen charge case that provides full remote control of the earbuds and other unique features. The Poly Voyager Free 60 UC includes the basic charge case without a touch screen.

Visit VoIP Supply’s Poly page for more Poly Voyager Free 60 UC Series options and give our VoIP experts a call at 1-800-398-8647, we will be happy to help you find the right solution.

How to set up Paging Groups on a Snom M500 Base Station

On the Snom M500 Base Station, you can configure up to six paging groups via the WebUI or provisioning.

A paging group is a list of registered handsets/desk sets that can receive a page. For example, you can set up the paging group “Sales” for handsets 1 and 2, and the paging group “Warehouse” for handsets 3, 4, and 5.

When you have configured your paging groups, they will be available for selection on the Paging screen of the Snom M55 DECT Handset or Snom M58 DECT Desk Phone. Select the paging group, and press Page to send a page to the handsets/desksets configured in that paging group.

You can configure Paging Groups by either WebUI or provisioning:

WebUI

  • Go to the System → Paging Configuration page.
  • On the Select Page Group list, select a paging group.
  • Enter a Page Group Name (for example, “Warehouse”).
  • Select the check boxes of the handsets/desksets that you want to be included in the paging group.
  • Click Save.

Provisioning

Import the following setting values to M500 via provisioning for each paging group you want to configure.

  • Substitute ‘x’ with the paging group number (1-6).
  • Substitute <name> with the name of the paging group (for example, “Warehouse”).
  • Substitute <members> with a comma-delimited list of registered cordless device index numbers (1-48) to be included in the paging group.

How to charge Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex Wireless Headset

May 5, 2023 by Tony Monteleone

The Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex Wireless Headset is the latest headset in Jabra’s Evolve series. The Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex comes in a fold-and-go design and includes features such as Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), noise-canceling Jabra ClearVoice microphones for the Open Office, and revolutionary Jabra AirComfort™ technology.

You can charge your headset using the supplied USB charging cable or a wireless charging pad. It takes approximately 2 hours to fully charge the battery. When fully charged, the battery life is up to 32 hours. If out of battery, charging the headset for 15 minutes will give up to 6 hours of battery life.

When using the USB charging cable, plug the USB charging cable into the USB-C charging port on the left earcup and any available USB port on your computer. It is recommended to charge the headset using the supplied Jabra charging cable, however, it is possible to use a compatible charger.

You can also charge with a With Wireless Charging pad. There are Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex Wireless Headset models that come with a Wireless Charger. Connect the wireless charging pad to a powered USB port on your computer using the supplied USB charging cable, and then place the left earcup on the wireless charging pad. A charging pad for the Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex is available separately as an optional accessory.

The LED on the wireless charging pad will light up to indicate the left earcup has been correctly placed on the wireless charging pad and the headset battery is charging.

The status LED on the headset will then briefly flash green, yellow, or red to indicate the current battery charging status. When the status LED turns solid green, the headset is fully charged.

Visit our website to learn more about Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex Wireless Headsets or give our VoIP experts a call today at 1-800-398-8647!
