Patton SmartNode SN10100A/4E/RUI Gateway Overview

The Patton SmartNode 10100 SS7 T1/E1/J1 Media Gateway enables SIP-to-SS7 and H.323 VoIP services by connecting voice traffic between the PSTN (public switched telephone network) and combining SIP-over-IP telephony networks. VoIP capabilities are being applied to sigtran SS7 networks to lower the cost of interconnecting with other carriers, by constructing their network footprints more cost-effectively, or simply to transfer voice traffic through their IP backbones. The Patton SmartNode SS7 media gateways have a built-in sigtran SS7 protocol stack that allows service providers to deliver SIP-over-IP VoIP services while preserving the consistency and reliability of conventional TDM telephony networks that use the sigtran protocol.
