Solution Overview

Patton Smartnode 4110 Series Analog Gateway (DISCONTINUED)

The Patton Smartnode 4110 series gateway is used to bridge the gap between an IP system and an analog system. Patton Smartnode gateways equipped with FXS ports can either bridge analog devices like telephones, fax machines, or modems to IP phone systems, or they can connect a legacy analog PBX phone system to SIP trunks to utilize VoIP. Patton analog gateways equipped with FXO ports can connect an IP PBX to the PSTN (or POTS lines) to use the public phone company to bring dial tone to a VoIP PBX. Choose which configuration of FXS and FXO ports you would like in your Patton Smartnode 4100 series gateway from the drop down below.

Patton Smartnode 4110 FXO Gateways *

FXO gateways help bridge your VoIP phone system to the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network). Most people call these POTS (plain old telephone service) lines. Using an FXO gateway will allow you to use the coolest features of a new VoIP System internally without dropping your traditional phone lines, which may be helpful if you want to migrate slowly to VoIP. You can also use an FXO gateway to provide your VoIP system with phone line backup in case your ITSP goes down. Thirdly, an FXO gateway can be used to connect VoIP phones in remote offices to the local telephone service for local calls. Patton offers pure FXO gateways, or you can get a hybrid of FXO and FXS gateways which allow analog devices to co-exist on a VoIP network.

Patton Smartnode 4110 FXS Gateways *

FXS gateways allow you to use analog devices, like fax machines, telephones, and modems on a VoIP network. Sometimes the analog device is your legacy PBX. FXS gateways allow you to continue to use this investment with VoIP over SIP trunks. This is a great way to migrate slowly from legacy equipment to VoIP when what you REALLY NEED is just a lower cost phone bill and not necessarily a whole new system, or when you need to move at a slower pace to allow for your user's learning curve but want to start saving money on VoIP right away. Patton offers FXS only gateways and also hybrid FXS and FXO gateways so you can not only bridge that analog PBX to VoIP, but also keep some POTS line connectivity for failover and local calls.
