POTS stands for Plain Old Telephone System. Most POTS lines have moved away to alternatives but there are still 36 million active POTS lines in the US.
If you are one of the users, check out this webinar recap that prepares you to transition your existing POTS lines and services to an alternative service solution by August 2nd, 2022.
How Sangoma and VoIP Supply Can Help With POTS Replacement Options
Depending on your needs, ideally, we recommend replacing your on-prem equipment with Cloud PBX and replacing analog based equipment with IP compatible end-points which connect directly to IP service providers.
Alternatively, you can also keep your existing equipment and connect it to IP/VoIP/LTE service using a VoIP Gateway.
Check out these typical scenarios:
Scenarios 1: Sangoma SIPStation & Faxstation
Keep existing analog phone system
Integrate VoIP Gateway to connect to SIP Trunking service
SIP Trunking is cost-effective. It will save you on line rental and calls and it is very easy to add more calls. More advantages include:
Management – Choose where to deliver calls
Future proof – Ready to voice/data convergence
Contingency – In disaster reroute calls
What about fax? Sangoma’s FAXStation covers your fax needs:
Can use fax machine and/or eFax
Low monthly cost ($10 starting. $20 for high volume)
Works in low bandwidth situations
Avoids T.38 compatibility issues
No telco lines needed!
Just as reliable as the PSTN!
Easy management integrated with the SIPStation Portal
Fully-rebranded Custom Fax Portal options available to resellers

Q: Would FAXstation meet HIPAA requirements for healthcare?
No, not as of today. But we are working on being HIPAA compliant.
Q: Does this copper sunset affect DSL internet especially for rural areas?
We are not entirely sure how this will be handled. All we know is that this can be the only option for certain areas and some might not have an alternative. Affected customers will receive a notification and explanations on how things will move forward, so if you are not being notified, I would assume your area is not affected.
Q: Does FAXstation support color fax?
Yes, FAXstation does support color fax.
Q: Can FaxStation receive fax to your email and fax machine simultaneously?
Yes, you would set up DIDs for inbound fax to both the portal and the devices. Even if it’s not set up that way, you can still review your fax in the portal.
Q: If I am using FAXstation, Can I add port #2 as a standard phone line just by adding a line in the console to the FAXstation device for an alarm?
FAXstation is for fax only so it will not support voice or anything else except for fax.
Q: Are you working on a built in broadband modem Cellular
No, this is not part of the schedule/ plan.

Are you using Microsoft Teams and are thinking about implementing CyberData devices to work with the platform? Can CyberData devices work on Microsoft Teams smoothly? Let’s dive in more to find out:
Q: Is CyberData Compatible with Microsoft Teams?
A: Unfortunately, CyberData devices are not directly compatible with Microsoft Teams. However, these two can work together as long as you have the required intermediary device to communicate in between.
Luckily, there are a wide variety of options available for the Microsoft Teams integration! You need the right hardware to operate in the Microsoft Teams environment and Ribbon Communications is one of the great options to facilitate this operation.
Do you often need to make broadcast calls to people in a group? You will love the multicast feature on Fanvil’s V67 IP phone!
How does the multicast feature work?
Users can configure a multicast DSS Key on the V67 phone, which allows users to send a Real TimeTransport Protocol (RTP) stream to the pre-configured multicast address without involving SIP signaling.
Users can also configure the V67 to receive an RTP stream from a pre-configured multicast listening address without involving SIP signaling. You can set up to 10 multicast listening addresses.
How to set up the multicast feature on Fanvil’s V67 IP Phone
Here are the steps you need to do to enable the multicast feature:
Go to [Function Key] >> [Function Key] , select the type to multicast, set the multicast address, and select the codec.
Click Apply.
Set up the name, host and port of the receiving multicast on the web page of [PhoneSettings] >> [MCAST].
Press the DSSKEY of the Multicast Key which you set.
Receiver will receive a multicast call and play multicast automatically.

Paging is a convenient way to make quick announcements to specific groups or an individual. Wouldn’t it be great if you can just turn your existing phone into an intercom when you need it? Is it possible? Let’s find out!
Question: We’re looking for a phone with intercom features that allows us to make an announcement in the facility to a group of people. Do Snom phones have intercom/paging capabilities?
Once configured, simply press the intercom function key, the phone will call the configured extension. After you hang up the receiver, the intercom call will be closed just like other normal calls.
Incoming intercom calls will be auto-answered without any ringtone and you can end the call anytime by hanging up or pressing ‘Cancel’.
Note that some restrictions may apply in certain SIP server environments.
